Smolrun began as a late-night experiment among friends who loved whiskey, art, and the kind of conversations that only happen after midnight. Those talks became known as Whiskey Wednesdays—though they rarely happened on Wednesdays. From those moments, an unexpected idea took shape.

What if a bottle could be more than something you drink? What if it could tell a story?

From NFTs to Neat Pours

In 2022, founder Anthony Bautista launched Smolrun as a way to collaborate with digital artists using NFT technology. The project attracted a creative community bonded by curiosity and taste.

As the NFT wave faded, the whiskey stayed. By 2025, Anthony had gone from collecting a single barrel to managing a small library of them—bourbon, scotch, tequila—each with its own story. What started as a side project became Smolrun Spirits Club, a members-only community built around pairing exceptional barrels with collectible art.

The mission is simple: to create conversation pieces that live far beyond the pour.

**Introducing Standoff: A Duel in Three Acts**

The newest release, Standoff, captures that philosophy perfectly. It’s a six-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey distilled by Dueling Grounds Distillery, a boutique operation in Franklin, Kentucky that takes its name from a nearby 19th-century dueling site once used by southern gentlemen to settle scores. The distillery is known for its small-batch, double-pot-distilled bourbons that showcase Kentucky craftsmanship in its purest form.

Bottled at 100 proof, Standoff delivers a balanced mix of richness and heat, the kind of bourbon that rewards patience. But the story doesn’t stop at the liquid. The label, illustrated by @ScribbleWarl0ck, forms a triptych when the three bottles are placed side by side. Two gunfighters face each other on the outer bottles, their draw exploding across the center. It’s cinematic and nostalgic—a duel immortalized in both history and art.
